Jody K. Lurie is a Credit Analyst in Bloomberg's Bloomberg Intelligence division. She covers companies from the debt perspective in the leisure, lodging, gaming, restaurants and rental car sectors. Ms. Lurie's work is accessible to Bloomberg Terminal users, but she also frequents Bloomberg News in-print and on-air, discussing her companies under coverage, as well as macro and market issues that surround them. Ms. Lurie received Bloomberg Intelligence's 2Q 2021 Franchise of the Quarter award.
Prior to joining Bloomberg, Ms. Lurie worked in various roles at Janney Montgomery Scott, first as a Consumer & Retail investment banker and lastly as Director, Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Consultant to Janney's trading desk, financial advisors, and clients globally. She has a long history in taxable fixed income as a corporate credit analyst and strategist, with an extensive coverage list including, but not limited to, industrials, oil & gas, metal & mining, food & beverage, retail, and financial institutions. Prior to joining Janney, Ms. Lurie worked at Citigroup-Smith Barney.
Ms. Lurie is a respected thought leader and public speaker. She has been quoted by Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, CNBC, Fox Business News, Reuters, Financial Times, National Public Radio, and other major news outlets. She is also a sought after speaker at industry events and conferences. In May 2016, she testified before the US Senate Finance Committee during the hearing “Debt versus Equity: Corporate Integration Considerations.” On multiple occasions, she has presented at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia to the Philadelphia Council for Business Economics.
Ms. Lurie is active in several industry and community organizations. She serves on the Pepper Council of the Free Library of Philadelphia, as well as the Rohr Center of Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore, where she received the Distinguished Alumni award. Ms. Lurie is a 2018 recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal's Women of Distinction: Rising Star award. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia. Ms. Lurie holds Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College, where she received her A.B. magna cum laude in Mathematics (with honors) and Economics.
