Michael Boldin has worked in academia, research institutions, and private industry and is an expert in building systems for managing and reporting financial and economic data,and creating indicators and forecasts for regional and national economies. He has extensive professional experience in database management, model building, forecasting, producing survey results, and applying seasonal adjustment procedures.
Dr. Boldin received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. His fields of study where finance, monetary theory and industrial organization, and his dissertation was titled “Business Cycles and Stock Market Volatility: Theory and Evidence of Animal Spirits.” He was a senior economic analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Dr. Boldin was an assistant professor in the finance department of the Fox School of Business and Management at Temple University. Earlier Dr. Boldin was the director of research support services at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to that he served as director of business cycle research at the Conference Board and as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
He has published in various economic and finance journals and presented his work at regional and national conferences, including the American Economic Association, Eastern Economic Association, NABE, and the Financial Management Association meetings.
